Paolo recounts: ‘my passion for nature, my attraction for a different world, pushed me to practice the sailing. While in ninth grade, an ad on the school noticeboard convinced me to brave the winter weather and join a sailing club. I continued with windsurfing and then, during my professional training in the USA, I sailed in the waters of Boston aboard the J24s of the local sailing club, where I met Jim and Michael, friends for life. When I returned to Sardinia, I attended the prestigious Centro Velico Caprera, where I still hold the active role of instructor of the keel boat sector.
In 1998, I bought Merak and sailed the Mediterranean to Barcelona. Going to sea is a unique experience: enjoying the company of friends, discovering the gusts of wind, observing the power of the waves, getting to know the marine environment, admiring the sunrises and sunsets, enjoying the silences. I enjoy teaching, entertaining and involving curious and active fellow travelers from different parts of the world in sailing. With them I like to exchange knowledge of economics, politics and science.
Active involvement in sailing the boat is certainly an exciting experience for the participants on the trip, and their enthusiasm is a source of great satisfaction for me. Thanks to my countless voyages and my curiosity, I have become a sea storyteller who passes on stories, anecdotes and curiosities to my travelling friends.”
